Welcome, Murphy Maize Days Volunteers! We are excited to see our volunteer family again this October! Volunteering for Murphy Maize Days is a great way to get involved, meet new people, and attend the event while getting hours for school, organizations, or resumes! This event would not be possible without the help of our volunteers!
Who can volunteer? Anyone or any organization is eligible to volunteer. Volunteers 12 years or younger must volunteer with an adult. (Adults can chaperone 6 kids maximum during a shift). Shifts are approximately 2-4 hours to offer the most flexibility throughout the event. Shifts are 8 am – 12pm; 12 pm – 4 pm; 4 pm – 8 pm; 8 pm – 10 pm. Duties include greeting guests at the entrances, working various activities in throughout the festival, cleaning crews, line control, etc. Each volunteer receives an official Murphy Maize Days volunteer t-shirt and water throughout the day. Volunteers who work 8 hours or more will receive a complimentary meal (dinner).
The 2024 Murphy Maize Days festival will be at Murphy Central Park (550 N Murphy Rd.) October 5, 2024, from 12 pm – 10 pm. Volunteer registration begins on August 5, 2024, with opportunities to sign up online.
How to sign up: A parent or adult (18+) will need to create a CivicRec account for youth and teens to volunteer. The parent account will allow children to be added. Once accounts are created the catalog will show a tab labeled Volunteer Opportunities where volunteer activities and shifts will be available for sign-up. To ensure you are signed up you will need to add the volunteer shift to your cart and check out. Once you received a receipt the spot will be reserved.
What’s next? Once volunteers sign up for their shift event staff will reach out to all volunteers to attend a mandatory volunteer training the week of the event. This training will include the shift schedule, volunteer agreements, information about the event, activities, check-in, and parking. This is the perfect time to ask questions and learn more about what you will be doing at the event.
